ABOUT PEDRO:
Pedro Ramos, b. 1988, Porto, Portugal. Pedro graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Glasgow (2011), however he always had an inclination towards arts, culture, including cinema and painting.
In 2016, he started giving shape to his artistic endeavors by drawing simple things like apples, lemons and landscapes. Eventually, a contemporary urge gave rise to shaping abstract forms, as vehicles of the chaos of the modern man, yet representing its essence and beauty.
Smears, Seeds, Horizontal Lines are examples of works that are very direct to the eye, brute slides of paint, yet very soothing to the mind. Simultaneously, represent an emotional response of the artist to daily life and also give an answer to its chaos. Perhaps, pausing and contemplating is part of the response to the stress of daily life. There is the hope that these paintings can offer this peace and beauty to whoever purchases them to their homes.
Pedro has participated in two group shows: in 2019, “Works on Paper” at The Brick Lane Gallery in London; and in 2023, “Luz, Máquina, Ação” at Espaço Almad’Arte, Porto.
