DAN’S ART STATEMENT:
I am an artist living and working in North Hampshire, U.K. My practice is a combination of both ‘plein air’ painting and studio work. The bulk of my work is created outdoors in-situ beside rivers, on top of cliffs, and down on beaches. Near to where I live in Hampshire there are a plethora of nature reserves, rivers, and woodland to explore and work in. Further afield I tackle the more rugged coastal landscapes of the west country of the U.K. in Devon and Cornwall. Back at home in my studio is where some of my more experimental and abstract works often happen. Working in a range of mediums, surfaces, and approaches I am always looking for new ways of working and using paint. Visiting a range of different locations in all types of weather encourages this exploration and creativity in my work and above all manifesting a closer and more intimate relationship with the natural world.
