Mountain climber lovers

” Mountain climber lovers ” represents a couple united in an acrobatic kiss, at the top of a mountain. They express the happiness of the path climbed together. Naked, stretched, metamorphosed, they are in a poetic register, symbol of a perfect connection of the couple. The loving balance between earth, water and sky, inspired me a lot between 2021 and 2023; I created 15 paintings on this subject, varying the settings by declining the same flight posture of the characters. ” Mountain climber lovers ” is painted in oil. My painting technique takes up the process of the old Flemish artists of the 15th century, which allows a brilliant conservation of colors over time. The human being is my subject. Since a striking dream, my characters are always naked and bald, to access an abstract, symbolic dimension, beyond any social marker. I seek to express the feeling of the invisible in reality, of forces that underlie and nourish us. I recognize myself in contemporary surrealism. Nourished by the influence of Dali, Delvaux and Modigliani, as much as that of the ancients, Hieronymus Bosch, Caspar David Friedrich, and of ancient Khmer and Egyptian art; I also feel connected to contemporary artists such as Yun Minju and John Currin, who are renewing figurative art.”
