“In the painting “Pink Laughter”, Myriam Feuilloley sought the joyful complicity of a couple. She depicts a state connected to an enveloping, tonic dimension, and satisfaction, and abandonment to the present moment. The pink color gives softness, a reassuring matrix. The dust of white light evokes the fertile overflows of the bonds that connect and rejoice. This work belongs to a series painted in 2020 when the world was struggling to emerge from the Covid pandemic; the primary intention of the painting was to create a resource, a challenge that would be a remedy for the dark pressures of reality. In Feuilloley’s work, the characters are always naked and bald, detached from materiality to access a dimension that is out of fashion, abstract, symbolic. Inspired by a striking dream, the artist seeks to express the sensation of the invisible in reality. Her characters are like evolving souls in search of the timeless. Feuilloley belongs to contemporary surrealism. She was influenced by Dali, Magritte, Delvaux and Modigliani, as much as by Hieronymus Bosch, Caspar David Friedrich, Khmer art and ancient Egyptian art. She feels connected to contemporary artists Yun Minju and John Currin, who are renewing figurative art. This painting is painted in oil, according to the ancient process of Flemish artists of the 15th century, which allowed a brilliant conservation of colors over time. The work radiates a good mood and a desire for uninhibited joy.”
