• This portrait shows us a very young woman, almost a child. Yet she put on boxing gloves, determined to stand up straight, to fight, courageous, despite the apparent fragility. No doubt his guide is the little yellow bird on his head, like a clear and lively idea that occupies his mind.
The mystery remains whole on his motivations, everyone will put what he wants. For me, it reflects the need for a link between the mind and the action to create a project, to move forward, not to disappear. Her eyes are a little enlarged by the stranger waiting for her, but I like the idea that she doesn’t back down.
The painting plays with reds in a minimalist staging. Mahogany red envelops the character like a matrix, which beautifully reveals the girl and her bright gloves. This one, naked and without hair, is an imaginary portrait that expresses the inner feeling rather than the search for a conventional appearance, this is a leitmotiv in all my paintings.
